Biography

Boban Marković is a Serbian Romani trumpet player and brass ensemble leader born on May 6, 1964, in Vladičin Han. He established the Boban Marković Orkestar, a Balkan brass band. The ensemble received several awards at the Guča Trumpet Festival, including the Best Orchestra prize in 2000 and the First Trumpet award five times between 1988 and 2001. Marković released the studio recording Hani Rumba in 1997 and Millennium in 2000. He collaborated with artists including Felix Lajko, Attwenger, and Frank London. The band performed at the Sziget Festival in Hungary in 2000 and toured Europe and North America. The ensemble provided music for the film Underground and was featured in the documentaries Competition and Guča. Marković's son, Marko Marković, joined the band in 2002. Both appeared in the 2005 documentary Usti Opre. Subsequent recordings included Bistra Reka (2002) and Gipsy Manifesto (2013).
