Biography

Billy Ray Cyrus is one of the biggest names in pop-country music. Discovered in 1992 with the single “Achy Breaky Heart, ” he broke sales records and popularized country line dancing. The album *Some Gave All* was also a massive success that far exceeded the usual reach of country music. The follow-up album, *It Won’t Be the Last*, released in 1993, marked his second and final foray into the international scene; the rest of his career focused primarily on North America. With few exceptions, his albums were subsequently confined to the country charts, and not necessarily to the top spots. In 2003, Billy Ray Cyrus ventured into Christian music with the album The Other Side. Father of actress and singer Miley Cyrus, he starred alongside her in the final season of the television series Hannah Montana (2010–2011) and performed several duets with his spirited daughter.
