Jeremiah Manitopyes, known professionally as Drezus, was born on August 28, 1982, in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. He is a Canadian rapper and activist of Plains Cree heritage. Early in his career, Drezus gained recognition from the Native hip-hop group War Party after performing a 20-minute freestyle for them. This led to his involvement with Rezofficial, whose debut album The Foundation won the Canadian Aboriginal Music Award for Best Rap/Hip-Hop Album in 2004.
Drezus' breakthrough came with the release of Red Winter in 2013, followed by Indian Summer in 2014, which earned him multiple awards, including Best Rap/Hip Hop Album and Indigenous Entertainer of the Year. Drezus has also collaborated with artists like Taboo from the Black Eyed Peas, winning the Best Fight Against the System MTV VMA Award in 2017.
