Biography

Belbury Poly is the name of the project launched by producer and composer Jim Jupp, co-founder of UK label Ghost Box Records. Known for its unique blend of electronic music and library music (sound illustration), the project began its recording career in 2004 with the Farmer's Angle EP, and has developed over the years with the support of studio musicians, bringing an organic dimension with guitar, piano, bass and drums. Belonging to the "hauntology" movement and drawing on the sound library of the 1970s with moog sounds and other synthesizers, Belbury Poly has released the albums The Willows (2005), The Owl's Map (2006), From an Ancient Star (2009), The Belbury Tales (2012), New Ways Out (2016), The Gone Away (2020) and The Path (2023). Between 2010 and 2013, he also collaborated with various musicians from the electronic scene, Moon Wiring Club, Mordant Music, The Advisory Circle or Spacedog, for the Study Series. In 2025, the track "The Music Room", taken from the Other Voices 09 EP with Moon Wiring Club, reached No. 6 in the UK physical singles chart.
