Biography
Bailterspace, a New Zealand shoegaze/noise rock band, formed in Christchurch in 1987 as Nelsh Bailter Space. The group initially consisted of Alister Parker and Hamish Kilgour, with Glenda Bills and Ross Humphries completing the lineup for their early releases including their first single "New Man" released in 1987. After several lineup changes, including the addition of Brent McLachlan on drums, they released their debut album Tanker in 1988. The band signed with Matador Records for U.S. distribution and gained international attention with releases like Robot World (1993) and Vortura (1994). After a hiatus in 2004, Bailterspace returned in 2008 to perform live at the Bowery Ballroom and released albums such as Strobosphere (2012) and Trinine (2013).
