Biography

Arja Enni Helena Saijonmaa, born in 1944 in Mikkeli, Finland, is a Finnish singer who studied at the Sibelius Academy. She gained prominence as a singer in Sweden, releasing albums featuring Swedish translations of songs by Mikis Theodorakis and covers of Zarah Leander's repertoire. In 1978, she released Miten voi kyllin kiittÃ¤Ã¤, an album of Finnish translations of the songs of a Chilean composer. She participated at Melodifestivalen with the song âHÃ¶gt Ã¶ver havetâ, finishing second. She also scored a Svensktoppen hit with the song âJag vill leva i Europaâ.
