Biography

Anata, a technical death metal band from Varberg, Sweden, was formed in 1993. The group initially released two demos, Bury Forever the Garden of Lie, and Vast Lands of My Infernal Dominion, before signing with Season of Mist for their debut album, The Infernal Depths of Hatred, in 1998. Anata's career saw significant milestones, including a split album with Bethzaida titled Anata vs. Bethzaida: War Vol. II, and notable tours across Europe and the United States, such as their appearance at Maryland Deathfest in 2006. The band released several albums, including Dreams of Death and Dismay (2001), Under a Stone With No Inscription (2004), and The Conductor's Departure (2006). Anata's unique style, characterized by dissonance and contrapuntal structures, sets them apart in the death metal genre. The band remained inactive after Andreas Allenmark left in 2008 until they announced new album recordings in October 2023.
