Born on April 13, 1938 in Vilnius, Poland, Andrzej DÄ
browski is a jazz singer, drummer, and composer as well as journalist, photographer, and former rally driver. His musical career began as a drummer but then took a turn in the mid-1960s when he became known more for his singing. He went to Music High School in Krakow, Poland, performing in a jazz trio with Wojciech Karolak. He attended the Instrumental Department of the Higher School of Music, where he studied percussion under Józef Stojka. In 1958, he made his professional debut as a drummer in the Andrzej Kurylewicz Trio. He also played with Jan Ptaszyn Wroblewski (1961-1966), as well as Krzysztof Komeda, Jerzy Milian, WÅodzimierz Nahorny, Krzysztof Sadowski and MichaÅ Urbaniak. DÄ
browski played or recorded with international stars like Stan Getz, Art Farmer, Don Ellis, Johnny Griffin, Jon Hendricks, Bud Powell, and many others. Between 1958 and 1965, he was voted Best Jazz Drummer in Jazz Magazine. DÄ
browski made his debut as a jazz singer in 1965. His repertoire as a vocalist included jazz, pop standards and original compositions. He released several albums as a vocalist including Do Zakochnia Jeden Krok (1972) and two completely different self-titled album released in 1974 and 1981. DÄ
browski collaborated with the Zbigi Band on the 2011 album Zakochaj SiÄ Dopóki Czas.
