Ana Roxanne Recto, known professionally as Ana Roxanne, was born on April 1, 1987, in Vallejo, California, and is an experimental ambient musician and singer. She developed an early interest in music through her parents' diverse tastes and aspirations to become a jazz singer. In 2005, she moved to Iowa to study jazz and classical music. She released her debut EP, ~~~, in 2015, initially only among close friends. The EP gained wider recognition when it was picked up by Leaving Records for a full release in 2019. Her first full-length studio album, Because of a Flower, followed in 2020, receiving acclaim for its immersive soundscapes and exploration of gender identity themes. In 2023, she collaborated with DJ Python on the project Natural Wonder Beauty Concept, releasing their self-titled debut LP. In 2026, she returned to Kranky with Poem 1, her first solo album in more than five years, previewed by âKeepsakeâ and âUntitled II.â
