Biography

Alastair Greene is an American blues-rock guitarist, singer and songwriter. Born in Santa Barbara, California, on April 18, 1971, he discovered music with his music-loving parents, whose mother was a pianist, and his grandfather Alfred Chico Alvarez, formerly trumpeter in Stan Kenton's jazz orchestra. He learned to play the guitar in his teens, and proved to be a gifted instrumentalist. Trained at Boston's Berklee College of Music, he started out playing in local bands, before performing with artists such as Alan Parsons, Starship featuring Mickey Thomas, and blues singer Debbie Davies. He then founded the Alastair Greene Band, developing a style that blends electric blues, Southern rock and classical guitar influences. Greene made a name for himself with solo albums such as A Little Wiser (2001), Through the Rain (2011), Dream Train (2017), The New World Blues (2020) and Standing Out Loud (2024), hailed for their instrumental intensity and authenticity. On stage, his infectious energy and virtuoso guitar playing have enabled him to tour the USA, Europe and Japan, sharing the stage with many of the biggest names in blues and rock.
