Biography
Los Angeles, California-based hip-hop producer, musician, and artist Afta-1 (real name: Manuel Moran) released his debut album Aftathoughts Vol. 1 in 2008. While he had begun tinkering and producing his own music six years earlier, the debut album was his first physical release under the Afta-1 name. He has often been compared to legendary hip-hop artists J Dilla, DJ Spinna, and Flying Lotus. Afta-1âs blending of samples and keyboards revealed a unique artist to the world of instrumental hip-hop. His second album, F O R M, was released in 2010. Afta-1âs third album, Undefined, was released digitally in 2014. While his single âThe Time in Betweenâ (2008) was released on seven inch vinyl, the majority of his singles and EPs were released digitally, as were his DJ mixes. In 2020, Afta-1 released three separate digital projects: Portal & Prana, Harvest & Mirror, and 10312020.
