Biography

Absu, an American extreme metal band from Plano, Texas, was formed in 1989 as Dolmen by Mike "Shaftiel" Kelly and Ray "Lord Equitant Alastor" Heflin. The band released their first demo On the Eve of War that same year. In 1991, after renaming to Absu, they signed with Gothic Records and released their debut EP Temples of Offal. Their first full-length album, Barathrum: V.I.T.R.I.O.L., was released in 1993. The band's career included notable releases such as "The Sun Of Tiphareth" (1995), and the single "Abraxas Connexus" (2011). Absu disbanded in 2020, following a series of lineup changes and personal issues.
