Biography
Aberfeldy, a Scottish indie pop band formed in Edinburgh in 2002, was founded by singerâsongwriter Riley Briggs. The group derived its name from a Scottish town where Briggsâ grandfather had a caravan and initially assembled a lineup that included drummer Ian Stoddart, bassist Ken McIntosh, and vocalistâkeyboardist Kirsten Adamson. Their breakthrough came with the single "Heliopolis By Night" in 2004, which reached Number 66 on the UK charts. The same year they released their debut album Young Forever, recorded with vintage analogue equipment and featuring the track "Summer's Gone" that later appeared in international commercials. In 2006 the band released Do Whatever Turns You On, produced by Calum Malcolm, and the single "Hypnotised". After a brief hiatus and lineup changes, they issued the EP El Zoomah in 2008 and the single "Come On, Claire" in 2008. Their third fullâlength album, Somewhere to Jump From, arrived in 2010 under Tenement Records, preceded by the single "Malcolm". Aberfeldy supported acts such as R.E.M., Blondie, and James Blunt, and performed at festivals including T in the Park and South by Southwest, but their activity tapered in the following years, with sporadic performances continuing into the 2010s.
