911 was formed in Glasgow in 1995 by dancers Jimmy Constable and Simon âSpikeâ Dawbarn, who later recruited singer Lee Brennan after meeting manager Steve Gilmour; the trio began touring schools and clubs before establishing Ginga Records. Their breakthrough came with the Aprilâ¯1996 release of the cover "Night to Remember", which entered the UK Singles Chart at numberâ¯38, followed by "Love Sensation" in July that peaked at numberâ¯21. In Septemberâ¯1996 the group signed a £3.5â¯million, fourâalbum deal with Virgin Records, and released The Journey in Marchâ¯1997, achieving Gold certification from the BPI in November. Subsequent albums Moving On (1998) and There It Is (1999) each reached the UK top 20, and the single "A Little Bit More" topped the UK Singles Chart in Januaryâ¯1999, marking the groupâs only Number 1 hit. By the end of 1999 The Greatest Hits and a Little Bit More was issued, including the final single "Wonderland", after which the group disbanded on 26â¯Februaryâ¯2000. In 2012 the band reunited for ITV2âs The Big Reunion, leading to a 2013 arena tour and the release of Illuminate⦠(The Hits and More) with the single "2 Hearts 1 Love". Subsequent appearances included a 2019 reunion concert in Kuala Lumpur and a 2023 collaboration with Vietnamese artist Äức Phúc on a bilingual version of "I Do".
