6ixBuzz was founded in 2017 by Abraham Tekabo and Sarman Esagholian in Toronto, Ontario, as a meme and parody news profile on Instagram that showcased Torontoâs underground music scene. The platformâs breakthrough came with its virally spread user-generated content and clickbait headlines, leading to a re-faced website and mobile app launch in January 2021. 6ixBuzz expanded into music with its record label, 6ixBuzz Entertainment, releasing the compilation NorthernSound on December 13, 2019, and the album Canadaâs Most Wanted on June 11, 2021, featuring artists such as Pressa, Yung Tory, and 88Glam. The groupâs influence grew, but its content drew widespread criticism for spreading misinformation and fostering racial and ethnic stereotypes.
