Biography

2:54 is an alternative rock band formed in London in 2010 by Irish sisters Colette and Hannah Thurlow. The sisters were born in Ireland and spent their childhood in Bristol before moving to London and naming their group after a drum fill in the Melvins song “A History of Bad Men”. They first gained public attention in 2010 with the online demo “Creeping”. In 2011, the band released their debut single, “On a Wire”, followed by the Scarlet EP on Fiction Records. Their self-titled debut album, 2:54, was released in May 2012 and earned an 8/10 rating from NME. The group toured with acts such as The xx and Warpaint and performed at festivals including South by Southwest and the Reading and Leeds Festival. In July 2014, they signed to Bella Union and released their second studio album, The Other I, produced with James Rutledge. The band remained active with live performances through 2017, showcasing new material at venues in London and Margate.
