Biography
The brainchild of Dominique Gengoul, Frédérick Caracas and Jean-Luc Alger in the late 1980s, Zouk All Stars aimed to bring together leading figures in West Indian zouk for collaborative albums showcasing the musical style. Moradisc soon released Zouk All Stars (1987), in the pure zouk tradition already expressed by each member of their respective groups (Champagn' and Kassav' in particular). Open to other artists, the group followed up with Zouk All Stars présente Phil Control (1988) and Zouk All Stars Vol. 2 (1988), signing their first hit songs. " A tout'" (1988), "Akwarel" (1988), "Isidô " (1989) and "Eskiz " (1991) gradually became zouk icons, and the band began to perform live. With a high level of productivity, marked by eight albums in its first nine years of existence, Zouk All Stars established itself in the early 2000s as a landmark group on the flourishing zouk scene of the late 20th century, subsequently performing in France and abroad to defend its many titles to the public.
