Biography
Best known for his 1999 single "Love of a Thousands Years," Park Wan-kyu is a South Korean rock vocalist who kickstarted his career with the band Boohwal before rebranding himself as a solo artist with his late-'90s debut, Thousand Years of Love. He was born on December 1, 1973, in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi Province. While in his mid-20s, he joined the successful band Boohwal and appeared on the group's 1997 release, Discovery of Fire. The album's most successful single, "Lonely Night," enjoyed airplay across South Korea, but Wan-kyu soon left the band and began recording solo material. Thousand Years of Love, his first release under his own name, appeared in 1999, and he contributed songs to the soundtracks of TV shows like Look Back in Anger and Cowboy Bebop before releasing a second solo record, It's Now Or Never, in 2002. Two albums, Exodus and the compilation 1999-2006, were released in 2006. Park Wan-kyu briefly reunited with Boohwal in 2011 for the single "Secret," and continued appearing on the soundtracks of various South Korean TV dramas. He eventually appeared in several of those dramas as an actor, too, starring in Goddess of Marriage and Modern Farmer during the mid-2010s. Several years later, his song "ì²ë
