Biography

Yeule is the experimental pop project of Singaporean musician and producer Nat Ćmiel, who began releasing music under the name in 2012. Drawing inspiration from ambient, glitch, dream-pop, and Asian post-pop, the project is named after a character from Final Fantasy XIII. Yeule’s early works include EPs like Yeule (2014), Pathos (2016), and Coma (2017), which explored themes of memory and loss. In 2019, they signed with Bayonet Records and released the critically acclaimed debut album Serotonin II, praised for its intimate sound design. The 2022 follow-up, Glitch Princess, pushed their style into more avant-garde territory and was featured in Pitchfork’s ‘Best New Music’. In 2023, Yeule joined the Ninja Tune label and released their third album Softscars, which continued to build their reputation for emotionally raw, genre-defying music. The single "Sulky Baby"(2023) served as the album’s introduction. Teasers for new music began in late 2024, leading to the 2025 announcement of their fourth studio album Evangelic Girl Is a Gun. Released on May 30, it includes collaborations with producers Clams Casino and FITNESSS. One of its standout singles, "DUDU" (2025), showcases Yeule’s evolving fusion of cyberpunk aesthetics and emotive songwriting.
