Biography

X-Legged Sally, a Belgian avant-garde rock/jazz band, was founded in 1988 by composer Peter Vermeersch. Initially formed to compose music for dance productions, such as Immer das Selbe Gelogen (Always the Same Lies), X-Legged Sally quickly evolved into a full-fledged band known for combining jazz, rock, improvisation, and classical elements. Their first concert took place in November 1988, and they gained international attention with performances at venues like New York's Knitting Factory. The band released their album Slow-Up in 1991, followed by Killed by Charity in 1993, both produced by Bill Laswell. Notable albums include Eggs and Ashes (1994), which featured young vocalist Mauro Pawlowski on the waltz "Lulu", and The Land of the Giant Dwarfs (1995). X-Legged Sally disbanded in 1997.
