Wind is a German schlager band founded in 1985 in Erlangen by producer and composer Hanne Haller. They are best known for their three entries in the Eurovision Song Contest representing Germany: in 1985 with "Für alle" (2nd place), in 1987 with "Laà die Sonne in dein Herz" (also 2nd place) and in 1992 with "Träume sind für alle da" (16th place). These songs have become emblematic of the German schlager repertoire of the 1980s and 1990s. Their style is a blend of schlager pop, light variety and unifying refrains, aimed at a broad family audience. From their beginnings until the 2020s, Wind released over 20 studio albums, including Für alle (1985), Laà die Sonne in dein Herz (1987), Träume sind für alle da (1992), Mit Herz und Seele (1995), Sonnenklar (2001), Kein Weg zu weit (2002), Nimm Mich Mit (2005), Für Deutschland (2014) and Liebes Leben (2017). The band has undergone several line-up changes, but the most iconic members include Alexander "Ala" Heiler, Rainer Höglmeier, Willie Jakob, Albert Oberloher, Petra Scheeser, Daniela Heiderich and Andreas Lebbing, present since 1987 and lead singer on "Laà die Sonne in dein Herz", still an active member. After a stint as a trio between 2006 and 2009 with Nastasja Marinkovic, then with Jasmin Kneepens between 2018 and 2023 (retired for health reasons). The band, which went on to record the albums Lass den Schlager in dein Herz (2018), Millionen Momente (2019) and Startbereit (2022), has since operated as a duo with Andreas Lebbing and his wife Caroline Lebbing, present since 2010. Still active, Wind continues to perform on television and in concert in the German-speaking world, with a longevity rare in the schlager scene, celebrating its fortieth anniversary in 2025.
