Vasti Jackson, born on October 20, 1959, in McComb, Mississippi, is an American electric blues guitarist, singer, songwriter, and record producer. He studied at Jackson State University and played in local juke joints. By the late 1980s, Jackson was working as a session musician for Malaco Records and Alligator Records. In 1993, his self-penned track "Let the Juke Joint Jump" appeared on Koko Taylor's album Force of Nature. He released his debut solo album, Vas-tie Jackson, in 1996. Jackson produced Bobby Rushâs Grammy-nominated album Hoochie Man and contributed to B.B. Kingâs Blues Summit (1994). His subsequent albums include No Borders to the Blues (2003) and Stimulus Man (2010). He was inducted into the Mississippi Musicians Hall of Fame in 2012.
