Urszula Beata Kasprzak, known professionally as Urszula, is a Polish rock and pop singer and multi-instrumentalist born on 7 February 1960 in Lublin. She began playing the piano and accordion in her youth and attended the Lubliner Lieder-Studium. She achieved professional recognition in 1977 after winning the main prize at the Festival of Soviet Songs with the track âKopciuszekâ (1977). In 1982, Kasprzak began a collaboration with the group Budka Suflera after composer Romuald Lipko produced the single âFatamorgana '82â (1982). Between 1983 and 1987, she performed with the ensemble and released the studio albums Urszula (1983) and Malinowy król (1984). She received second place at the Baltic States Festival in Karlshamn and was awarded the Amber Nightingale at the 2001 Sopot Festival for her career achievements. Her recording career includes the studio recording BiaÅa droga (1996), which reached platinum status in Poland. Her discography also includes the studio albums Supernova (1998), Udar (2001), and DziÅ już wiem (2010). Kasprzakâs husband and frequent musical collaborator, guitarist StanisÅaw Zybowski, died on November 22, 2001.
