Liz Story, born October 28, 1956, in San Diego, California, is an American pianist and composer. She began her musical education at a young age, mastering Mozart's Klavierkonzert F-Dur KV 413 by 11. She studied at the Juilliard School and Hunter College, and after hearing pianist Bill Evans perform at a club in New York City, she studied jazz piano with Sanford Gold. Returning to California, she studied at Dick Grove Music Workshops and worked as a restaurant pianist, where her improvisations evolved into compositions. William Ackermann of Windham Hill Records discovered her work, which led to the release of her debut album Solid Colors in 1983. Throughout the 1980s, she became prominent in the New Age music scene, releasing notable albums such as Part Of Fortune (1986). She composed for the film Worth Winning (1989) and was nominated multiple times for Grammy Awards. She also released the album, My Foolish Heart, in 1992.
