Biography

Patrick J. Alger, also known as Patrick Alger, born on September 23, 1947, in LaGrange, Georgia, is an American country music songwriter, singer, and guitarist. He started as a solo folk performer before moving to Woodstock, New York, in 1973. His breakthrough came in 1980 when Livingston Taylor had a hit with "First Time Love". The following year, Alger moved to Nashville and began collaborating with notable artists. He toured extensively with The Everly Brothers from 1984 to 1988. Alger's songs have been recorded by diverse artists, including Garth Brooks, Hal Ketchum, Trisha Yearwood, Don Williams, and Mark Collie. His notable hits include "Unanswered Prayers", "What She's Doing Now", "The Thunder Rolls", and "That Summer". He released three solo albums in the 1990s, such as From the Heart (1980), True Love & Other Short Stories (1991), and Seeds (1993). Alger was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2010 and into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame in 2013.
