Biography
Unwritten Law is an American rock group formed in Poway, California in 1990 by drummer Wade Youman. The bandâs early years were marked by frequent lineup changes, with Wade Youman remaining the sole founding member until his first departure in 2004. Their breakthrough came with the release of Blue Room in 1994, which introduced the bandâs punkârock sound to the San Diego scene. The followâup Oz Factor (1996) brought the single "Seein' Red" to regional radio, and the selfâtitled album Unwritten Law (1998) featured tracks such as "Lonesome" and "Teenage Suicide" that received modest airplay. In 2002, Elva shifted the band toward a more mainstream hardârock style, yielding the single "Up All Night" and the hit "Seein' Red" on the U.S. Modern Rock charts. The 2005 release Here's to the Mourning produced "Save Me (Wake Up Call)", which peaked at number 5 on the U.S. Modern Rock chart. After a series of touring and lineup adjustments, the group issued Swan in 2011 and The Hum in 2022, the latter being their first album of new material in eleven years.
