Biography

Unklejam, a British electro‑funk collective formed in 2006, emerged from the United Kingdom’s vibrant dance scene under the leadership of Tendai Tyson, who steered the group’s blend of R&B, soul, and funk influences. The band’s breakthrough arrived with the release of the single "Love Ya" on 26 February 2007, which received airplay on BBC Radio 1 and entered the UK Singles Chart at number 54; the track was also featured in the soundtrack for the video game NBA Live 2008. Following a successful stint supporting artists such as Nelly Furtado and Justin Timberlake, Unklejam issued "What Am I Fighting For?" on 4 June 2007, a single that peaked within the UK top twenty and reached number eight on the UK iTunes Store. The group signed with Virgin Records and released the single "Stereo" on 22 October 2007. Their self‑titled album Unklejam was released digitally on 29 October 2007 and physically on 4 February 2008, accompanied by a modest UK tour that included performances at the Wireless Festival, Glastonbury, and T in the Park.
