Biography
Wynd Chymes was an American funk and boogie band formed in Jackson, Mississippi. A collective of musicians with roots in school band culture, the group was signed to RCA Records in the early 1980s. Originally formed in the 1970s under the name The Family, Wynd Chymes forged a reputation for combining organic funk instrumentation with horns and percussion and synthesizer sounds. In addition to cult singles such as "Ride" and "Checkin' Out Your Stuff", Wynd Chymes recorded the albums Arrival (1982), produced by Larry Graham, and Pretty Girls Everywhere (1983). The B-side of "Ride" (1981), "Baby, You're the One" was reissued in 2008 by the Lotus Land label, then in 2026 by Celestial Echo, reaching No. 99 on the UK Top 100 Physical Singles Sales chart.
