Biography

Units, an American synthpunk band, was founded in San Francisco in 1978. Known for using synthesizers instead of guitars and multimedia performances, they released their EP Units in 1979 and debut album Digital Stimulation in 1980 under 415 Records. In 1982, the band's single "The Right Man" peaked at number 18 on Billboardâs Dance Chart. After signing with Epic/CBS Records, they produced a music video for "A Girl Like You" that received rotation on early MTV. Units disbanded in 1984 after recording the soundtrack for Tony Ourslerâs film EVOL.
