Biography

Sam Turner, known professionally as Uncle Sam, was born on May 31, 1971, in Detroit, Michigan. He is an American singer specializing in Contemporary R&B and Soul music. Uncle Sam's breakthrough came when he signed with Boyz II Men's Stonecreek Records imprint, distributed by Epic Records, in the late 1990s. His debut album, Uncle Sam, was released on October 17, 1997. The album featured the hit single "I Don't Ever Want to See You Again", penned by Nathan Morris, which reached number 5 on the Hot 100 chart and number 2 on the US R&B chart in 1997. This track also peaked at number 30 in the UK Singles Chart in May 1998 and sold over one million copies, achieving Platinum status. The success of "I Don't Ever Want to See You Again" propelled Uncle Sam into the mainstream, earning him significant attention and establishing his presence in the R&B genre. The album Uncle Sam was certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), further solidifying his early career achievements. Throughout his career, Uncle Sam continued to perform and record music, although he did not achieve the same level of commercial success as his debut single.
