Biography

The American soul and R&B band Mint Condition hail from St. Paul, Minnesota and, coming from the same area where Prince established his name, it was perhaps inevitable that the two should eventually meet and collaborate; to celebrate 20 successful years in the music business Mint Condition joined Prince on his Welcome 2 America tour in 2010. In later years after Prince's death Mint Condition's founding member, drummer and lead vocalist Stokley Williams, would join Prince's backing band The Revolution to perform some of Prince's early material during their tour. Mint Condition's story began in the mid 1980s when a group of high school kids led by Williams formed an R&B band. After numerous hits the band took a six year hiatus which began in 1999 and they resurfaced in 2005 with the album 'Livin' the Luxury Brown'. The album went to number one in the Independent Charts and proved the band hadn't lost their touch. However, it wasn't until the single 'Nothing Left to Say' lifted off their follow-up 2008 album 'E-Life' that the band made it back into the top 30 in the R&B Singles Chart, the first time in almost three decades. All but one of the original members (Keri Lewis) remains active within the band to this day and the band can look back on a successful career which produced some well received R&B ballads, particularly during their 1990s heyday.
