Biography

Uhuhboo Project is a South Korean avant-garde band formed in 1994 by Bek Hyun-jin, Jang Young-gyu, and Won Il. Known for their experimental and unconventional style, their music is often described as complex and challenging. Won Il left after their first album, Break-even Point (1997), leaving Baek and Jang to continue as a duo. Due to its unconventional nature, Uhuhboo Project's music, including instrumental tracks, was banned from broadcasting, limiting their mainstream recognition. However, they gained prominence through collaborations on film scores with renowned directors such as Park Chan-wook and Im Sang-soo. Their discography includes full-length albums like Dog, Lucky Star (1998) and 21c New Hair (2000), as well as the EP Tuna World (2004). In 2014, they released Records of Detective Nagune, further cementing their legacy as pioneers of Korea’s avant-garde music scene.
