Biography

Torche, a sludge metal band from Miami, Florida, formed in 2004. The group released their debut album Torche on Robotic Empire in 2005. Their second album, Meanderthal, was published in 2008 by Hydra Head Records. In late 2008, guitarist Juan Montoya left the band, and they continued as a trio, releasing an EP titled Songs For Singles in 2010. The group returned to a quartet lineup in 2011 with the addition of Andrew Elstner. Their third album, Harmonicraft, was released on April 24, 2012 by Volcom. In 2015, Torche signed with Relapse Records and recorded their fourth album, Restarter. Their album Admission was published on July 12, 2019. Torche played their final concert on October 16, 2022, but reunited in 2025 to perform alongside Cave In for their European tour.
