Emerging from the Netherlands, Timecop1983 (real name: Jordy Leenaerts, born 24 August 1983 in Nuenen, North Brabant) began crafting his dreamy, neon-soaked soundscapes in the mid-2010s, drawing heavy influence from the synth-driven soundtracks of classic 1980s films, arcade games, and TV shows. His music evokes the magic of an era defined by both the digital revolution and the golden age of pop culture. Timecop1983’s breakthrough came with the release of Night Drive in 2018, an album that quickly became a fan favorite and solidified his place in the synthwave genre. His work is often characterized by its cinematic feel, blending atmospheric synths with infectious, driving beats and emotional melodies.
