Biography

Throw Me the Statue was an American indie pop band formed in 2005 by Scott Reitherman, who began self-releasing CDs in 2004. The group initially included friends such as Casey Foubert of Pedro the Lion, and later evolved into a full band by early 2007. Their debut album Moonbeams was released on Reitherman's Baskerville Hill label and later re-released by Secretly Canadian. The album reached Number 16 on Amazon Music's Best of 2008 Editors' Picks list, and the single "Lolita" was featured in a Courtyard by Marriott commercial. Throw Me the Statue toured extensively, performing at notable events such as South by Southwest, Bumbershoot, and the Sasquatch Festival, and opening for Cake in Seattle. Their second album, Creaturesque, was released in August 2009 to positive reviews. The band also recorded a cover of "If This Is It" by Huey Lewis and the News for a tribute album.
