Biography

Three Times Dope was an American rap group formed in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, comprising Robert Waller, Walter Griggs, and Duerwood Beale. The trio began recording in the mid‑1980s under the moniker 3‑D, releasing early singles such as "Giddy Up" and "Crushin' & Bussin'" in 1988, which helped establish their local presence. Their debut LP, Original Stylin', issued in 1988, peaked at number 122 on the Billboard 200 and entered the R&B/Hip‑Hop chart, while the follow‑up Live From Acknickulous Land (1990) reached number 30 on the R&B/Hip‑Hop chart despite not charting on the Billboard 200. The group’s catalog includes the 1994 single "Da Sequel" and the 1999 album The Sequel 3. Collaborations with producer Kwamé and later work by Robert Waller as a songwriter earned a Grammy nomination in 2005 for Destiny's Child’s “Cater 2 U,” marking a significant post‑group achievement.
