Biography

Swiss-born songwriter, actor, comedian and singer Thierry Romanens was born in France, in the Alsace region, in 1963. He grew up in Colmar, where he formed his first folk group and performed in café-théâtre, before founding the comedy trio Bretelle 007 in Switzerland in 1987. After more than 300 performances, he created his first solo shows and founded the Salut la Compagnie troupe in 1996. Five years after his first EP, Extrait Ordinaire! (1993), he returned to song, expanding his repertoire for the stage with the albums Le Sens Idéal (2000), Les Saisons du Paradis (2004) and Le Doigt (2006). Winner of several awards at song festivals, Thierry Romanens joined forces in 2007 with the Format A'3 trio created by Alexis Gfeller (piano), Patrick Dufresne (drums) and Fabien Sevilla (double bass), to record the album Je M'Appelle Romanens (2009), which won the Prix de l'Académie Charles-Cros. In 2011, he produced the album Round Voisard with poet Alexandre Voisard, then continued to stage musical shows such as Courir (2022), dedicated to long-distance runner Émile Zatopek.
