Biography
Multi-instrumentalist and lead singer of the French reggae group Tryo, Christophe Mali has also launched a solo career from time to time. Born in Antony (Hauts-de-Seine), France, on August 25, 1976, Christophe Petit (real name) adopted the name given to him by his actor friends when he started out in the theater. He was a member of a local troupe for several years and used his instrumental skills for musicals, before founding the group Tryo in 1995. In 2004, he began writing his first solo album, Je Vous Emmène, which was released two years later. It went gold, and was also nominated for a Victoires de la musique award for the tour that followed its release. Christophe Mali has worked with a number of artists, including LEJ, Tété and Boulevard des Airs, and is also involved in stage shows outside his work with Tryo. In 2010, he played in the comedy Carmen Opéra Rock. In 2024, taking advantage of a break from his band, the musician signed the song "Derniers humains", in which Tryo accompanies him with singer Lucie Lebrun. Other tracks followed, including the duet "à quoi ça sert" with Alain Souchon, featured on his second solo album Humain, released in 2025.
