The Soda Stream, a German indie pop band, was formed in 1996 when Lars Schneider and Frank Schwesig invited Christoph Hallmann to assist with recording techniques. The trio released their debut EP Grapefruit the following year through Marsh-Marigold Records. Alexa Rose joined as a flutist for an unreleased track, and Arne Kristott and Björn Ehrich became permanent members after performing at a label festival in 1996/1997. Their first full-length album, Hotel Pacific, was released in 2000 and included remixes by Optique and Clubkraft. The band's subsequent album, All the Things You Are (2005), showcased a diverse range of musical elements and was produced largely by the band themselves. In 2017, they released their self-titled album The Soda Stream.
