Biography

The Partisans is a Welsh punk rock band formed in Bridgend, Wales, United Kingdom, in early 1978. Influenced by bands like Sex Pistols, The Clash, and Ramones, they began performing punk rock covers before writing their own material. Their first single, "Police Story / Killing Machine" (1981), released on September 28, reached number 5 on the UK Indie Chart. This success led to inclusion in Garry Bushell's compilation Carry On Oi! (1981) and tours with notable acts. The band released their debut album, The Partisans (1983), in February. After lineup changes and relocating to London, they released the Blind Ambition EP (1983) and the album Time Was Right (1984). The band disbanded in 1984 but reformed in the late 1990s, releasing the single "So Neat" (2001) and the album Idiot Nation (2004).
