The Lurkers, a British punk rock band from Uxbridge, West London, formed in 1976. The original lineup consisted of Pete Stride on guitar, Pete "Manic Esso" Haynes on drums, Pete "Plug" Edwards on vocals, and Nigel Moore on bass. The band's first gig was at Uxbridge Technical College in December 1976, supporting Screaming Lord Sutch. Their debut single "Shadow" was released in 1977 on Beggars Banquet Records and charted well, reaching Number 45 on the UK Singles Chart. The Lurkers' debut album Fulham Fallout followed in June 1978, peaking at Number 57 on the UK Albums Chart. Notable singles from this period include "Ain't Got a Clue" and "Just Thirteen", which was included in Mojo magazine's list of the best punk rock singles of all time in 2001. The band's second album Godâs Lonely Men was released in June 1979, but it did not achieve the same level of success as their debut. The Lurkers disbanded briefly before reforming in 1982 and signing with Clay Records. They continued to release music and perform intermittently over the years, with various lineup changes.
