Biography

The Organ was a Canadian post-punk band formed in Vancouver, British Columbia, in 2001. The group was conceived by frontwoman Katie Sketch, who began her musical training on the violin at age three. After forming an instrumental trio called Full Sketch with friends Sarah "Sketch" Efron and Barb "Sketch" Choit, Sketch decided to create a new band focused on vocals. This led to the formation of The Organ in 2001, with Katie Sketch on drums, Jenny Smyth on keyboards, Sarah Efron on bass and keyboards, Shelby Stocks on drums, and Debora Cohen on guitar. The Organ released their debut EP Sinking Hearts in summer 2002. In January of the following year, they were signed to Chad Kroeger's 604 Records imprint and Mint Records. The band's first full-length album, Grab That Gun, was released on May 25, 2004. Despite their early success, the band faced internal conflicts and health issues, leading to their disbandment on December 7, 2006.
