The Meanies, an Australian punk rock band, formed in Melbourne in 1988. The original lineup included Dennis DePianto on lead guitar, Lindsay McLennan on vocals and guitar, Mark Hobbs on drums, and Dave Christopher on bass guitar and vocals. Their early releases included the singles "Darkside of My Mind" (1990) and "The Reason Why" (1990). The band's debut studio album, Come 'n' See, was released in 1992. They supported international artists such as Nirvana and Pearl Jam, and toured extensively, including appearances at Big Day Out festivals from 1992 to 1994. Their second studio album, 10% Weird, was recorded in Seattle and released in 1994. The Meanies went on hiatus in January 1996 but reformed in 2008. Founding member Dennis DePianto died in February 2008 after being diagnosed with cancer. Their guitarist from 1993 onwards, Tasman "Tas" Blizzard, died in August 2008 in a car accident.
