The Longcut are an English rock band from Manchester formed in 2002 by Stuart Ogilvie, Lee Gale, and Jon Fearon. They established their three-piece lineup after an original vocalist departed, initially intending to produce purely instrumental music before Ogilvie began performing vocals. They signed with the label Deltasonic and released their debut extended play, Transition (2004), followed by A Quiet Life (2005). The group toured extensively throughout 2005, including appearances at the SXSW, Glastonbury, and Fuji Rock festivals. Their debut studio album, A Call and Response (2006), was mixed by David Andrew Sitek and featured the singles âVitamin Câ (2006) and âA Tried & Tested Methodâ (2006). The record was ranked number 19 on NMEâs list of top albums for 2006. Their subsequent recording career includes the studio albums Open Hearts (2009) and Arrows (2018), the latter of which was distributed by Deltasonic after the band spent several years as an independent act.
