Biography

The Kids from Fame is a group formed by cast members of the American TV series Fame, achieving notable success in the United Kingdom during the early 1980s. The group included Debbie Allen, Valerie Landsburg, Erica Gimpel, Carlo Imperato, Gene Anthony Ray, Lee Curreri, and Lori Singer. Their breakthrough came in the summer of 1982 when the series aired on BBC1, leading to the release of their debut single "Hi Fidelity", which peaked at number 5 on the UK Singles Chart. This success was followed by the release of their self-titled album The Kids from "Fame", which topped the UK Album Chart for 12 weeks. Over the next year, they released several singles and albums featuring songs from the show's first three seasons, including "Friday Night (Live!)" (1983) and "Body Language" (1983) . The group embarked on live tours in the United Kingdom and Europe, culminating in a performance at the Royal Albert Hall in London, which was recorded and released as an album. Internal conflicts led to Erica Gimpel leaving the tour midway through 1983. Despite these challenges, the group continued until 1987 when the TV series ended. In 2004, they released their final album Ultimate Fame. The Kids from Fame reunited for a TV special in 2003 and again in 2008 for a show titled Bring Back... Fame, which aired on Channel 4.
