Biography

English indie rock band The Holloways, from North London, formed in 2004. The group consisted of David 'Alfie' Jackson and Bryn Fowler, who met Rob Skipper at the music venue Nambucca on Holloway Road. During a jam session with Dave Danger, they completed six songs, marking the beginning of their musical journey. The Holloways released their debut single "Generator / Two Left Feet" in 2005 and followed it up with limited releases such as "Happiness & Penniless" and "Two Left Feet". Their breakthrough came with the release of "Generator", which reached number 14 on the UK Singles Chart. The band's debut album, So This Is Great Britain?, was released in October 2006 and received an 8 out of 10 rating from NME. They toured extensively with notable acts such as Babyshambles, The Pogues, and The Kooks. In 2009, they released their second album No Smoke, No Mirrors. The Holloways announced their breakup in 2011 and played their final show on May 23, 2011. Former band member Rob Skipper died on October 3, 2014, from a heroin overdose. The band reunited in 2017 and embarked on the Indie Till I Die Tour with fellow indie rock bands The Enemy and The Subways in 2024.
