Biography
The Heavy Blinkers were a Canadian orchestrated-pop music group formed in Halifax, Nova Scotia in 1998. The original lineup included Andrew Watt, Ruth Minnikin, and Jason MacIsaac. Their debut release was Hooray for Everything in 1998, followed by the self-titled EP Heavy Blinkers in 2000, whose sound has been compared to Brian Wilson's Smile. Over the next decade, they released several albums including Better Weather (2001), The Night and I are Still So Young (2004), and Health (2013). The band contributed to various projects, such as providing the score for the Canadian film Touch & Go, and had their songs featured in TV series like G-Spot and Robson Arms. In 2008, Watt and Minnikin left the band, leaving MacIsaac as the sole remaining original member. The Heavy Blinkers were nominated for an East Coast Music Award for Pop Recording of the Year in 2014.
