Miles Goodman, born August 27, 1948 in Los Angeles, California, was an American film and television composer and record producer. After graduating from Antioch College in 1972 with a degree in English, he studied music and film scoring with private teachers, including Albert Harris, and began arranging orchestrations for films such as Being There (1979) and The Verdict (1982). He gained prominence scoring comedies for director Frank Oz, notably receiving a Golden Globe nomination for Little Shop of Horrors (1986) and composing the score for Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (1988). Goodman composed the music for numerous films, including Teen Wolf (1585) and Dunston Checks In (1996). Throughout his career, he collaborated with artists such as Johnny Mandel, Terence Blanchard, and his long-term musical partner Oscar Castro-Neves, with whom he co-produced highly praised jazz albums including Color and Light: Jazz Sketches on Sondheim (1995). Goodman died of a heart attack in Santa Monica, California, on August 16, 1996, and was posthumously awarded the SOCAN Film Music Award on November 18, 1996.
