The Four Coins were an American vocal group formed in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, by Jimmy Gregorakis, George Mantalis, and brothers George and Jack Mahramas, all of Greek heritage; the group emerged from local talent shows and was discovered by orchestra leader Lee Barrett, who facilitated their audition in Cincinnati, Ohio. Their breakthrough came with the 1954 single "Once More"/"We'll Be Married in the Church in the Wildwood", which entered the U.S. charts at number 30, followed by a string of hits such as "I Love You Madly"/"Maybe" (1954), which reached number 28, "The Song That Brought Us Together"/"Need You" (1955), and "Shangri‑La" / "First In Line" (1957), all released on Epic Records. Throughout the late 1950s and early 1960s the group issued several albums, including The Four Coins in Shangri-La (1957) and Greek Songs Mama Never Taught Me (1965), and appeared in the 1957 Warner Bros. film Jamboree performing "A Broken Promise". After a brief hiatus in the 1970s, the Four Coins returned to perform two final shows in their hometown in 2003 before disbanding; George Mantalis died of lung cancer in December 2016 and Jack Mahramas in June 2023.
