Biography

The Features, an American indie rock group formed in Sparta, Tennessee, began with founding members Matt Pelham, Roger Dabbs, and Don Sergio in the mid‑1990s; Pelham served as lead vocalist and guitarist. The trio first recorded a self‑titled EP in 1997, followed by the The Beginning EP in 2001, which introduced the single "The Way It’s Meant To Be" and established their presence in the regional scene. In 2004 the band signed with Universal Records and released the album Exhibit A, featuring singles "Blow It Out", "There’s a Million Ways to Sing the Blues", and "Leave It All Behind", the latter of which received a music video. Creative differences led to a split with Universal, after which The Features self‑released the EP Contrast in 2006 and later the full‑length Some Kind of Salvation in 2008. The band signed to Serpents & Snakes, releasing Wilderness (2011), The Features (2013), and Sunset Rock (2016); "How It Starts" from Wilderness was featured in a 2012 Ford Mustang commercial and the 2013 game Saints Row IV. The group ceased touring after 2016, with a brief reunion in 2019 and a final two‑night performance in 2026, while YK Records re‑issued earlier works in 2023–2024.
